Partnership With Local Provisions
Outreach > Partnerships

As a small business owner who opened during the middle of this Covid-19 pandemic, I appreciate all the other small business owners who are not just taking the courageous step to open a business during these incredibly precarious times but also trying to truly help others in the process.
Therefore, I’d like to take this time to extend a warm Yoga Lab welcome to Ryan Ross, the owner of Local Provisions, a South Shore-based business that has teamed up with Red’s Best. Not all of you might be aware that during this pandemic local fishermen have been hurt badly as restaurant sales (which account for 70% of all seafood consumed in the U.S.) have dropped precipitously during the past year since Covid-19-related shutdowns have badly hurt the restaurant industry. And this also means that fishing families, especially those operating small boats and with far fewer capital reserves, have been disproportionately hit hardest.

I’ve had the privilege of knowing various fishermen throughout my life, and they bear a striking resemblance to American farmers: they aren’t looking for government handouts or charity but rather they just want to work hard and earn an honest living.
Therefore, the Yoga Lab is proud to team up with Ryan and Local Provisions. The goal of Local Provisions is to increase direct-to-consumer sales of top-quality seafood and help these fishing families survive. The fact that Local Provisions has teamed up with Red’s Best makes it even better. Red’s Best is located at the Boston Fish Pier and since 2008 it has helped aggregate catches by smaller independent fishing operations to give them far greater bargaining power in the market than these independent fishermen ever would have had alone. Additionally, their advanced tracing system guarantees that you’ll know exactly how your seafood was sourced and processed.

For those interested in reducing carbon footprints, Local Provisions in conjunction with Red’s Best has
reduced the mileage that seafood must travel by at least 80%.
Also, Ryan and Local Provisions being situated in Duxbury makes it even more compelling to order from them. In the process, we’re helping a local business which itself is helping hundreds of independent fishermen survive.
So, please take a look at Local Provisions website (www.localprovisions.eco), and to receive 10% off on your order, from now until the end of January 2021, please use YOGALAB10.
Thank you,
Jay
